Christian Scott Green has always been a creative soul, but his path to poetry was a circuitous one. Following a childhood filled with pounding on pianos, filming movies with friends, and generally indulging his imagination’s every whim, he began his formal education at the School For Creative And Performing Arts in Cincinnati. There, he majored in visual art and drama, later specializing in set construction and design. It was music, however, engaged in his spare time, that rapidly became his greatest passion. After teaching himself to play the drums throughout his teens, he moved west to study at, and ultimately graduate from, the Percussion Institute Of Technology in Hollywood.
Upon returning to Cincinnati, Christian soon realized his goal of becoming a professional drummer, in which capacity he composed and performed music for over twenty years. He developed a deep love for playing live shows and, additionally, recorded with six different bands. Along the way, he also became interested in photography, and his photographs appear as artwork for several albums and books.
Never one to let the muses rest, Christian moved on from the drums, and for nearly a decade now, has made his living as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for his band Real Live Humans. They perform regularly in and around Ohio, and are currently at work on original material to be released later this year.
In late 2018, after spending the better part of his life as an avid reader, and, forged in the crucible of his recent sobriety, Christian’s poetry was finally born. A convergence of his fascination with rhythm and with words, writing poems quickly resonated as the perfect medium for his artistic expression; he was hooked. Surrendering fully to his curious, contemplative nature, and as a means of catharsis, he set to work on conclusions delusions and musings on time, his first book, and is already penning verse for a second.
On the rare occasions when he isn’t reading, writing, or performing, Christian enjoys lively conversations with his siamese fighting fish, listening to baseball games, crafting ridiculous jokes for his own amusement, and spirited combat with inanimate objects.
